Prayer Vigil
Volunteers are needed for the Maundy Thursday Vigil. The Vigil will begin April 1 at 9:00 P.M. after the Maundy Thursday Service and end at 9:00 A.M. on Good Friday, April 2.
This year we will hold the Vigil in the Chapel. We can easily be socially distant. We do ask that you wear your mask. Volunteers are needed for a 1-hour time period throughout the night. The Holy Week vigil encourages the church to remain faithful to our Lord Jesus who is faithful to God and who gave his body and his blood for our sakes and the sake of the world. Helpful readings for this vigil time will be provided for those who spend this time in quiet worship.
Two or three people are needed for each 1-hour period, with one person seated quietly in the chapel and the other(s) in the lobby area. A volunteer begins with a 30 minute period in the lobby area and then moves for the next 30 minutes into the chapel. This coverage ensures that there will always be two or three people present in the building. Church doors will be locked. Entrance at the beginning of your vigil time may be gained by quietly knocking at the Eichelberger Street entrance; the person(s) stationed there will open the door and let you in.
To sign up to participate in the Vigil, simply call the church office, 314-353-2288. The office is open Monday through Thursday 9:00 A.M. to 12 Noon.
