Longest Night Service
There is a tradition that many churches have, and that we are reviving here at Hope, to offer a contemplative service during Advent that acknowledges our grief and loss in the midst of a joyful season. This is often held on the longest night of the year, in recognition of the light of Christ coming into the darkest times of our lives. It is sometimes called a “Blue Christmas” service, or “Longest Night” service, or, as we are calling it, a “Service of Light.” No matter the name, the service focuses on our universal longing for hope and love amidst loss and grief and uncertainty of all kinds. All are welcome to join us on Tuesday evening, December 22nd at 7pm. Eden Seminary is located at 475 E Lockwood Ave, St. Louis, MO. We will hold a short prayer service, focusing on the light of Christ coming into the dark and uncertain times of our lives. During the service, all participants will be invited to light a candle in remembrance of a loved one, or simply as a sign of hope.
